A quarantine surprise

I finished this cute little zip bag 

A cute 8 year old great nephew is turning nine on June 1st

I think a zip bag with some money and a card in a package left in a mailbox may be coming to a city near him

It was made out of scraps

Scraps of fabric sewn and quilted

On frankenbatt

Matched to a zipper and lined

If you were a nine year old boy would you like receiving this surprise???

I hope so.....its hard to find a store these days with something he would like

I need to make a pillow

I found this remember? I think originally I had wanted to make a table topper

But.......l think it will look good on the couch with this couch quilt

What cha think? Almost the end of the month so i need to think about sashing and to cornerstone or not to cornerstone

The holiday weekend had me planting food

For the summer

Here is my leaf lettuce and some herbs

Oooo tomato how I love a sandwich with you....lol

Some sage....to use and to keep deer away

They don't like the smell

Yellow  summer squash 

My garden area near my grill

That way i can take some lettuce and tomato and add it  to my burger asap

More challenges

On challenge day someone must have hit a pole.

Lights went out 2 or 3 times 

No machine 

No lights

No anything. Ughhh

Not even internet 

When it came back i finished this trivet

And while talking to my challenge buddy who by the way has not made anything yet  lol

I took some towels stash and potholders and sewed them up

I love these for quick gifts

Or for my stove

Deciding whether to decorate them or leave plain

They need buttons hand stitched on

I think there are 7 or 8 done

And i started the zip bag with the mutant ninja turtles

I had a strip from the quilt show

Matched it up with orange strip from stash

Now need back and lining and will quilt and make a bag

A successful challenge i think

At least on my end LOL

I am happy with my results

Remember the playing day with hst

I made pieces with intentions of making bags

Sooooo I took the red one

Quilted up the pieces 

Cut 4 inches off the back piece to make matching straps

Lined it and voila.....

A cute little useful tote

See even the back is cute.

Then i grabbed the second hst piece but wasn't feeling another tote

This one i split in half and lined

Making a zippy bag

Used up some valentines fabric for my lining too

Another cute finish.

I found this in my ufo pile

Yeah the pile  of what was i making with that?

This i think is a perfect size for a 16 inch quilted pillow cover

Instead of trying to store out of season pillows i decided to find a pattern for quilted covers.i can then change them out to my liking but store them in a small space.

This one will look nice i think with my couch quilt i am working on

Strings sewn and trimmed to a 5 inch square

Hope you are waving flags and remembering our vets

There may not be parades or celebrations like normal but if you know a vet, live near a vet, knew a vet etc. Be kind to them.thank them for their sacrifices for our freedoms

Put flowers on their grave

Help them cross the street or do something like mow the grass

Leave a surprise food bag or something on their front steps 

Be a good human.

We all need each other in these troubled times.

Quarantine quilt coming along

I put out the new blocks to see how far this quilt has come

Dunkin was impressed with our progress

But noticed a block a little crooked and turned wrong in my quick layout

He has OCD you know

Lol

Wait till he sees the slight difference in sizes ha ha

Anyway I am still loving it so will continue on

Especially since I found those fat quarters in blue 

I think the next few blocks concentrate on blue not pink

Have i said lately how much i love my precuts of scraps?

That one block was so easy to sew with the 2 inch squares already cut

I just needed to cut a 2x3.5 for each side 

Recognize the size? Yep used 3.5 squares too.cut them to  2 inches

Made 8 of these for quarantine quilt 

This is i think block 8 of 15

I skipped block 9

And started block 10

Only because i knew i had 2 inch blue and white squares already cut in my bin

Just need the 2 inch strips of lights now to finish these.

I think i only need 4

See? I love having my sizes cut

The sizes i cut are common in blocks 

So it makes it easy to use them up. 

The 2 inch bucket is quarter of the way full

The one above it is 2.5 and its time to use them up again.thinking of adding to my trip

3 of them summer squash onions oil and salad supreme spices

One i tried cabbage onion and green peppers. With spices like cumin tumeric and others.

Yum it was good

I was looking at the garden trying to see if my iris will make an appearance. Just one is all i need

Nope.....but the pansy in here came up all on its own from last year

Its Gram sayin hi.she loved pansies and petunias 

My phlox is spreading now that the tree is gone

Hope for gardens and huge harvests

Easy grillin outta the kitchen kinda cookin 

Hubs is good at prepping it

I just plop it on grill and time it out

Covid threw me off track

This was supposed to be the year of finishing UFO'S 

I started off pretty good then BAM

I started CREATING NEW ONES......UGH

these pineapples need to be found

And the strawberries too

So they can become runners for my table 

This guy was beautiful last year but got pulled up when the lawnguy cleared out the poison ivy

All that's left are my daffodils

No lillies

No iris

Nothing else

I guess i have to start over in this garden area 

And i need to get some towels done for the gift box.

They are quick and a fun useful gift

Some of these blues are a little green

In comparison

Would you mix them in?

My couch is the grayish blue color behind them

There is no green in the room

Only blues and grays

Would the green liven it up?

Or stick out like a sore thumb?
