Quilt friends are the best

My friend Barbara of wonttobequilter sent me this haul 

Someone pinch me and pick my jaw up off the floor

Um chase squirrels......I mean finish things so I can start a project........yeah that's it

Farmgirl block

 

This is my TV block

Just need to embroider the rabbit ears

I wanted the NBC peacock for the TV screen but used this fabric instead 

I love it

I cut it out in morning and sewed it at night 

Easy

Not in her books but it is a Lorj Holt pattern from years ago that I had printed out 

Comes in her 6 inch and 12 inch sizes 

Fun addition to my story quilt 

Dad had 5 of us rabbit ear adjusters at his beck and call. Lol

Sometimes giving us direction of stand right there and don't move  lol

Friends

You know how a certain song will stick with you for the day?

I get by with a little help from my friends 

Yeah didn't hear it except in my head

As I looked around  my home I saw these things I w as gifted

Adorable cat towel from Colette 

Fall runner from Julierose

Pumpkin my mom made many years ago 

Gifted to me by Jacky. Made by her neighbor Linda 

Red trucks gifted by Barbara of wonttobequilter

And some pumpkin mugrugs from an online exchange years ago

All reminders of the many blessings in my life 

For this I thank the Lord

Productive sewing

Once cut these work up pretty quick

I sew assembly line style

One morning I pulled my overflowing green bin and cut for half hour

And then a half hour sewing session finished these ten

Funny I had been collecting the tissues throughout the year

Some are 6 pk.  Some are 8 pk and some are 10 pk

Wonder if i paid the same

Am thinking in Dec maybe to go door to door with hats. Scarves. These   , stove towels etc in a huge basket and let them pick a gift

.no wrapping for me And they get to choose 

I could throw in a few cat and dog treats too

For the cuties that live here

Just a small gesture to say hey somebody cares about you.

There are many here that are alone for the holidays

It breaks my ❤  coming from a big family

Do you give little gifts to neighbors?

Those jar openers are quick too and so handy

As are those magnets of the glass that is flat on one side

Easy peasy quick projects

Very little cost

I got the tissues for a dollar 

So what .20 each plus my scraps and time

Chapstick Keychain, masks and maybe  hand sanitizer Keychain will be on the list too

I have about 15 towels and ten of these already

A couple hats and scarves

Almost 30 gifts already in no time

I must surely have magnets in my gift box too

Dollar store has those cute round tins that holds 4 to 5 I think

People here also like to read and do puzzles so a 20 dollar trip to the dollar store may be in order

A fun unexpected gift visit for the winter 

Maybe right after Thanksgiving

Anyone have cute cat and dog ideas?

I have seen catnip mice or those longer toys the cats grab and kick with their hind legs

Those are easy

Dogs I need maybe treats

People today I think give healthy ones like sweet potatoes?  Or is there a toy I can make that won't get shredded and harm them 

Let me know any ideas you may have

Maybe a pouch to hold doggie poo bags?

We have small dogs up to boxers here

The giving season is almost upon us.

 

Secret sewing

There is some secret sewing going on 

I can't fully reveal as eyes maybe watching

Just fun little items

On the todo list

Are you sewing for the holidays?

I really really really need to finish  my turkey runner and my thankful runner

We tend to skip over the thankful season

Gonna tighten up the todo list and make the most if my time

The end of the year is fast approaching

Lots of distractioms

When at Walmart getting prescriptions  I saw this baby set

OMG

A couple of my nieces hunt or have hunting partners

This was a 3 piece set

I loved it

But none of them are pregnant

How fun........

Sorry for those against hunting

They eat the meat so are not killing for sport and if not thinning out herds we would all be sick as would the deer

God intended we live off the land not grocery stores l

I spied this guy hanging out in my screenroom

TWICE I tried to put him outside

He was not having it and tried to bite me 

Ok dude

Stay here and starve you dummy

He is huge too

A little distraction of the sewing kind

Another little quick project

Those kleenex for the purse

Cut 5.5 x 6.5.  And 5.5 x 7.5 for accent border

Easy to do

Sew short ends.yes it will be bigger on one that makes the piping look

Turn right sides out.press flat

Will leave 1/4inch of contrast on each side

Fold into the center both sides and sew up short sides.

Clip corners  turn and stuff with kleenex pack 

Uses small scraps

Looks cute 

Nice tuck in gift

Keeps kleenex clean in purse

What's not to love right?

With matching strips you could make matching Keychain for chapstick too

I will cut some out as pieced for masks may be too narrow or short

Maybe I can get this out of it

Trying to use up the smaller stash and replenish with the layer cakes and fat quarters for fresh new sewing

 

Masks in process

I sewed up these masks using the panel

And then my fabric for backs

I need to cut more from stash to finish them out

Then I will put out the word in my area in case someone needs one 

Trying to make some more masculine

But may need to dig deeper

These need to be ironed and elastics sewn in

Figured I would do them assembly line style

To make it go a little faster

10 or so of each style

I may need to snatch one.......er um take one.......

Um test them out for size.

 

Day late and dollar short

I only made one block this week for my weave quilt

A day late and dollar short as they say

Hey one is better than none right?

I have hefty goals for the week but not many are quilt related

We will see if I can keep up

What a difference some water makes

This was my dirty house  before....

My clean house after

Outside anyway 

My shutters are actually blue now  ha ha

The neighbor has a power washer and said for 60 bucks she would wash it

She worked from 9 am to 3

So I paid  her much more

More than double

And I gave her tomatoes and squash and apples too

She was happy

I am happy 

The  lil garter snake was the only one that was not

We disturbed his sunbathing 

Lol

 

Busy busy

3 squirrels were busy running and burying hickory nuts for the winter 

Seems everyone is cleaning and getting ready

Birds are gathering and swooping to practice 

Geese are flying  south

I tried to go for my nightly walk when a blood curdling sound in the woods made me turn back 

I had heard rustling of twigs earlier when I decided not to cook on the grill

It must have been a deer then a pack of coyotes calling the dinner bell

They sounded so close

YIKES

That will make me run 

Saw this and had to put it here

We had a sassy pony all black like this one

Named Missy 

Brought back memories

If I don't post daily this week I am fine

Just busy

Today is power wash the house day

Tomorrow hubs doctors call which I will leave work for

Then at night a sad wake

One of my cousins kids committed suicide and he found him  just 32 and they think over a girl

Will be a tough tough day 

Stay safe guys

Help others even when you can

You may be the angel they needed at that moment

Be there for family and friends

Be a good listener 

So you can hear the words of God when He speaks to you

 

Sewing a little

I decided to cut out the panel masks

Find the elastic 

And get busy 

I sewed one of this kind as I only made the pleated rectangle ones before

I decided to back each with a fun print from stash

I need to find some manly prints but I am excited to sew these production style and give them to those that need 

My helper was counting pairs of elastics for me

When he works he is such a help  lol

 

Jacky was here today

I was straightening up a bit and looking at patterns i had pulled out for tuck in gifts

This ornament potholder was one both Jacky and I wanted to make 

As I looked to see how to do them, my ❤  sank.

There was my buddy's  handwriting guiding me to the process

I knew you would still be my sewing buddy no matter what

I'm not crying, you crying?

 

Getting serious

Will we ever be done with this virus?

Ugh

I found in my stash a mask preprinted panel 

If I add my fabrics to the backs I can make 20 masks

Some this shape.......

And some this shape

I am thinking some of the seniors here may not be able to keep buying masks to stay safe

So will see after I make them who may need them 

If I remember correctly after the last mask making

 i did I received a roll of elastic too late

But see? In God's time they were not late at all

Now I just gotta get serious and down to business

My barrel filled in with all the rain we had

But I noticed the one stave is broken

So it will be falling apart 

Ugh

My once beautiful red maple is dead

Never turned red

Half green half dead 

I will need to get it removed

I tried to pretty up the front a bit

They have a pretty yard contest

Where I live

So I took a walk for inspiration

This guy was at the front near the road 

So still. If I don't move she won't see me lol

So cute

But the people who have the contest are do as I say not as I do

This looks like heck near the office all full of weeds

And crabgrass everywhere

Mushrooms in yards but different than mine

So I ended back home

And admired my clematis fromJulierose

Weeds and all

The walk was relaxing from my busy workday

We had electric trucks blocking our in and out driveways

An hour later we had 2 firetruck pull up

A fire in the garage

CRAZY crazy Monday for sure

Everyone is ok and the fire was put out

Hoping the rest of the week is just boring everyday stuff
