A finish finally

I worked on this and got one done

A perfect size gor a cuppa coffee or a drink

And with a tuck in gift it's ready to fly to its new home

Onto the next future finish.......

 

A little of this and that

I wanted to sew

But nothing was prepped

So cut strips for a switchplate block 

Then sewed er up

Pulled a block for aboretum

Cut strips and sewed

Funny how I was in turquoise mode lol

Easy fun sewing

But I wanted more

And found 2 of these

Ready to back quilt and bind

How did that happen 

So I grabbed the 2 inch bucket 

Sewed 4 patches 

Then joined to make a back piece

And before I knew it I had 2 backs sewn

Now if the iron fairy would come

Ha ha

Need to press, find batt scraps and quilt

Then bind

I have a recipient in mind

So a purpose too

Isn't it great to be a quilter?

A hobby

Creative outlet

And gifts at the snap of a finger

Well, you know what I mean

Anyone found any good patterns for holiday gifting?

 

Veggie ready

As many of you know on Fri here I get bags of produce for 2 bucks to help save money

My problem is they are heavy 

And my back was feeling it

Soooooooi

I got myself a new toy

Dunkin is inspecting it

She folds up to store and holds 100 lbs

Back wheels lock 

Ain't she purty?

All others I saw started at 60 bucks

This one seems sturdy for my needs

A little investment that should pay off in many ways

Maybe I could walk by some farms and toss squash in there

Maybe.... ..

 

The squirrel dropped the seed and a tree grew

It's funny how you can look at a project and see your personality 

I started this with trees of 2 braches each side

Went to 2 on 1. And 1 on the other

The last blocks have been made 1 on each side lol

Mostly because my 1 inch strips were scraps and not by width of fabric pieces

I like it but I feel the blue green blocks stick out so need some sort of blender

Will peruse the blue stash even though the original plan was Fall colors

Sometimes projects take us in different directions

And that's ok

It's all a learning experience to grow skills and make something beautiful

No rush on this one

Just sewing a block or two when I get the urge

Hoping i find suitable binding fab for my blue snowball quilt

I just need binding and it's done

Same for Fall placemat set

Need binding

Gonna stop drop and organize a bit

And use my time more wisely 

Many little projects add up

And it's jam and jelly time round here

Also want to make some relish 

We will see

 

I go a walkin....after midnight

Here is one of my tomato plants

I had decided to plant it in the flower bed to see if the varmints would leave it be

Silly girl I am right

One can only hope

The ones in taller pots the deer are eating

The smaller pots the bunny eats

Hoping they leave this one for me

I did a walk around to see what needs to be done outside

With Richs celebration in June

And July being a bad month mentally it needs attention

My roses are pretty 

even among the weeds

I love them 

So pretty and cheerful

And mom is saying hi

This lily is smack in the center of an autumn sedum

I don't dare move it as each year it's blooms are amazing 

I don't want to jynx or kill it

Even in the weeds it's showing its beauty

The rose of Sharon my brother chopped is still huge and the weeds at the back steps need to be taken out

And look

Yes look closer st the brown spot in the back

Yes it's bugs bunny

He is down near the tomatoes and herbs waiting for me to leave so he can order lunch

My whole container of about 15 kale plants

GONE

no kale soup for me this year

I will buy kale and freeze it

Grrrrrrr

Who knew bunnies work out and eat healthy?

I decided to pull some reds and cut the 13. 2.5 blocks I needed for the last block

I resorted to some Christmas prints to get er done

I wasn't sure about the lopsided shape

 of this block

But I like the square area in the center

It frames It 

See? Presents and poinsettia and even st nick

This pattern is a keeper

I can see a spring one in my fav blues too

I did my hst sewn on line and cut away rest

And no I did not make teeny hst out of them ihave no plans for that

The hst then are 2.5 still and everything is. 2.5 in the block

I have to admit I had to lay out the pieces on top of the good block to make sure they were flying the right way

Only one ripped frog showed up

That's a good thing lol

Now to iron, trim,and quilt

This is in bloom

My dollar store gladiola

I try and plant some in remembrance of my Mom

She looooooved gladiola

The pkg on this said either solid red or solid pink

When it bloomed I was pleasantly surprised

So pretty

These guys are the steady Betty in the garden

A pop of color right up till fall

My autumn sedum is getting ready for its fall show of pink

I picked these onions as they were dried

Very disappointed

The varmints got a lot of them 

The ones left are the size of a nickel

I think the onion sets were bigger when I planted

So much for putting 120 onions in the freezer

I spent so much this year on the garden with little result 

First weather was raining every day 2 inches

Then was dry

Then deer and other animals attacked it

My kale, radishes,beets and dill wiped out

Parsley gone

Lettuce gone

They are even attacking garlic 

I guess bear, skunk,raccoon,squirrels,rabbits,deer all eat garlic

Whoda thunk

I guess God needed a farmer to feed his animals

And they ate pretty good lol

 

Youve got a friend in me

Getting there

This is a project as I find strips for trunks and brights for

 Background squares I cut n sew

Some with 3 branches

Some with 2

All different as I do one at a time

See?   3 then 2 branches

The one on the left kinda lined up unplanned

Is it chicken feet or a peace sign LOL

Hoping to find more bright backgrounds soon

I wanted more of a forest green type color too so we will see

Both my Dad and brother gave me some zuchinni and summersquash.

How much squash can one gal eat

I found a recipe

For bread n butter pickles using squash

Oh my........the smell is incredible

And they are delicious

Hoping I get another bag of squash soon.

I also bought a watermelon to make watermelon rind pickles 

Another fav of our family's

6 squash 2 onions and 2 green peppers made 4 pints of pickles

 Bummer as I have to share with bro and dad

So if you know any peeps that do drive by zuchinni bag dumps u can give them my address ok

I need to cut reds now to finish

I like it

Red and greens but not Christmas fabric

I may even hand quilt

The plan

This is a table topper 

I can go either way 

Make one more block into a runner

Or 2 more and alternate colors for a 4 patch topper

I used all the red and green 2.5 blocks I had so now as they say back to the old cutting board for the next 2 blocks 

They were fun to make but look off on one end.thats on purpose for the centers where they meet

A variety of fabs

Needing to be pressed and trimmed

See? The center where they meet will be a white square area

I like it so far

It will make a cute topper for the holidays

 

Christmas in July

It's Christmas in July  did you know that?

I started a red and green project

It's half done I think

Messy Jessie had it on her site

But hers was not as scrappy

Have I said before how I love my 2.5 squares????

Lucky 13

I now have 13 blocks

And it's more fun to lay them out

my greens still look blue 

And my next blocks are all the same backgrounds

Not sure how that will look with a small lap size

Trying to make some low contrast like this one 

And some higher contrast Ike this one

I know one thing

My wild and crazy stash is getting used

And that's always a good thing

Pairing some as high contrast

And some not as much contrast

I have a Mish mosh of colors

Thinking I need to raid the orange and red bin and see what I have

And more greens too

Some of these I have 6 or so blocks so will make the twigs different

If I make a lap quilt which is the plan I am thinking 9 or 10 across by 6 or 7 down

70 or less blocks I think

Mine are 6x9 ish

I will trim them all at the end

This fall squirrel is taking over my sewing room

Running around

Burying ideas

Digging through stash

Don't squirrels make a mess???

But they are entertaining
