Last day

Remember that fabric I found at Wallyworld? Aka WalMart

I got dollar store glass plates. These are the small size.  I modpodged fabric to the back

When dry i cut the fabric edge close to the plate. Next is another couple layers modpodge on the back and smoothing to prevent buckles

They are not waterproof but can be wiped clean and water cleaned from the glass side.

I put them on the check fab as that will go on a larger glass plate and what a cute presentation for some holiday cookies or bread or fudge etc tied in clear wrap with a bow. Great gift idea. And so i put a sprig of berries to help my photography skills. Haha

If you look at the berries you wont see how out of focus or balance i am lol

Hey i heard that in the back....saying i am unbalanced....lol

But seriously I am smitten with these and how simple they are and inexpensive even. The fat quarter made 2 small plates and i have a piece left over for another project. Sweet!

Are you preparing for the upcoming holidays? I am as i always do but moreso afraid we will be quarantined and not able to get out to get things. I buy some things online but i need my senses....smell, see, feel when i buy. Its just me. I wanna see the quality etc.

Anywho , hope this gives you some ideas too. We all have fabric stash with fav fabs. Wouldnt a santa face centered be adorbs for a cookie plate for santa?

Or a snowman? Or grinch? Heck even ninja turtles would be cute

I hear you can also use plain white elmers glue to do these. You thin it a bit then paint it on back of glass plate, and fabric, press out bubbles and let dry. I am putting one or two more coats to make it more durable. Easy peasy. Hardest part? Picking fabric and making sure plate dries balancing on something so the edges dont stick to surface

There you go.....last day of the month and an easy stash busting little project.

Ps leave some plates at the store for me!

I have the best friends

Friday after a long week, i stopped to get the mail.

No bills just two packages. Hmmmm not expecting any more from Jenny i dont think.

Nope, they are from my buddies Julierose of julierosequilts.blogspot.com  and Colette of whataboutrheema.blogspot.com.

I was overcome with emotion. Packages....for me. Teary eyed i opened them. Dunkin didnt know what was going on. He was sniffing them, probably smelling Bobbin and all the people who touched them lol or wondering who made momma cry

In Colettes package was an awesome tote that perfectly describes me ha ha how cool is this. I love love it.

And a pin. Can she really hear me from halfway across the country? I think so . She knows what I do when I stitch ha ha

And boy do I, especially if something goes a little wrong. Watch out ha ha

Julie was my pumpkin winner and made both herself and i a beautiful table runner. My jaw dropped.

The back is adorable too. The one person there reminds me of Bob Ross. Anyone remember him? The painter? With happy little trees? I smiled because i learned a lot from him.

And she sent fabric. Cute fabric. This will need to be in a cute project for sure

And kitties and phones.......for me to play with later. I have a wannabe kitty quilt started. Well one block somewhere in this messy sewing room and collected kitty fabric to use.

And as always she sends the cutest cards with the neatest penmanship.

I am lucky if my recipients know i sent the box. Ha ha

Thank you ladies for making me cry. And making my day. I am blown away by quilting friends. They are the best darned friends you can have and I am grateful for each and every one i have.

Mwaaaahh  to you both. And thanks for cheering me up.  I can sew a new project, tote it with me, and also start fall decorating too. Life is sweet

Much better

ok we went from covid brain.....what was i thinking.......

 To...... ok this is doable.

I originally was going for a cute fall potholder but it told me otherwise

It wanted to be a little wallhanging

How can i tell my child not to follow their dream.......so wallhanging it is

I will quilt er up and voila
A ufo block gone......pumpkin fabric gone except for a couple squares.......strip of light background literally had half inch i threw in trash.....and more 2.5 squares used.
Now to find a backing and frankenbatt and get er done . Makes me feel good to use that up.

I love stress free projects like this
No my squares on the ends dont match up
No its not perfectly centered
The center ufo block is dark....i could make tons of excuses not to finish but

I think it's cute.  Halloween isnt perfect.   I can use it as a small table topper.   Or hang on the wall.    Best of all it makes me smile. Isnt that what its about? Yes strive to be better or perfect of course....but give yourself permission to not be perfect too.
To just have fun. Let the stress of those ufos melt away. Grab them and make something even if it wasnt the original idea. Sometimes its because your new idea is even better!

Whats wrong with this pumpkin

What is wrong with this pumpkin? I was trying to take a small ufo block, make a pumpkin then make a potholder.

Rolling on the floor at my mess. Ha ha

I put the stem on pumpkin fabric instead of background

I never rounded it with squares sewn on the edges

So mr seam ripper and i have a date.

To fix the mess

And hopefully make something fun

Dont be like Dawn..... do it correctly

Only I would take a ufo block trying to use it up and make another potential ufo block right?

See the center ufo block in the pumpkin,?

Yes it was supposed to be a twin sister block.

It was more like the evil sister block haha

I will fix it and it will be fun....just wait and see.

What cha sewing in this crazy covid world?

Pumpkin season

Remember i said to pull ufo blocks?

Look at these pumpkins with leaves inside

So darned cute.

I was thinking maybe other small blocks i may have to build a pumpkin around. I am checking my hst and 3 to 4 inch blocks

Just the fun diversion i need about now.

Cant do the block math? No problem.you can design. Uh huh you can you can.

Surround the small block with chunks of pumpkin color on all 4 sides. Whatever color you want your pumpkin...gray..white..orange..etc

Then cut out 4 squares of background fab and sew onto the 4 corners to stitch, cut and flip  making the rounded shape.

Then frame in more background and voila

A cute pumpkin is born

A few of you made orange pumpkin slabs with me one year. Get out those scraps and ufos and make something.  It will help you out of the covid blues...trust me.

Its fun, freeing and you make a small project that is manageable. Win win

They will look cute small in a mug rug.

Or bigger as a potholder.

Bigger as a placemat, pillow or table runner or topper

Fall decorating task done. Ha ha

Doesnt that feel good?

I will need to start one so you can see

Maybe i can get my fall pillow covers done with pumpkins on them.

I am eyeballing this quilt but as usual I have too many projects going. I really need to stop making ufos

Maybe just one or two cars for a runner

Maybe......

What are you sewing to get back your mojo?

Just call me square

Lately i have been doing mindless sewing. This time of year with fall cleaning and su
ch i guess i just want to clean up.  The square bins are full so i decided to play.these purple ones will probably end up as a zippy bag

These i tried to pull fall colors to make a table topper.

Mostly muted and not vibrant fall but thats ok too.

This one from last year was my inspiration. I washed it to use and said hmmmm i need to make more. I use them all over
And for easy gift ideas.....grab some ufo blocks you have lying around

Here i had a lonely dresdan that i messed up on.  I thought the blue was green in there.i was going for a green wreath project. Not to waste it, i saved it and devided to use it in a topper. Along with a row of sewn tumblers   it is one i use all the time. Ha ha. Made from stuff that was stuffed in a bag because i messed up.

So look at your ufo blocks. I have some log cabin blocks i am eyeing for a runner.
I wanted a queen sized quilt but i was going for all red centers and who knows where any of that fabric ended up. I didnt write down my idea or sizes etc so i think some have a different number of strips etc.
Gonna make them wanted and useful.

They could also border panels. Hmmmm
Another idea.
What kind of forgotten ufo blocks are lurking in your sewing room? Do you save them? Fix them asap? Trash them?
I let them mingle over cocktails with the uh hmmm older more mature ufos. Lol
I figure they could learn something from the older folks about playing nicely with others
Ha ha

Try this challenge. Find a ufo block. Make something.  A runner....a tote....a table topper....
Lots of fun ideas....potholders, pillows
Get them into a quick to finish project and put them in a gift tote. You will be glad you did.

Walmart can be fun

it is dangerous when you need to get prescriptions and there are temptations all around.

I know the quality isn't there but can you picture the truck fabric for a small plate and the check for a large?  Yes modpodge here we come..... need to clean plates and iron fabrics and get er done. As i was shopping a lady was eyeballing them in my cart. Really?

This was another cutie i picked up

Just

Because

I

Like

It

And a cute jelly roll of 20 strips

Truck in fall colors. Now for a cute pattern.

Was thinking maybe the bindertool runner with black center squares. Ooooooo

I will need to check that out. In my head its beautiful. Ha ha

Anyone know where i can get wooden trays reasonable? I can stain or paint.  Have another idea for gifts

Will there be enough time to get it all done.

That is the question

Since we cant have shows

Since we cant have quilt shows, i thought it would be cool if we could each show some of our own to inspire others.

A challenge to use up some 5 inch charms

Clean up aisle 3.....everything but the kitchen sink

2.5 squares challenge.....greens as a nuetral to tone them down

More 2.5 inch play. Yellow is peaceful sometimes

A Jacky challenge to make the table toppers in back. Made the fall for challenge and upped the anti with Christmas. ..we both did the same....great minds think alike

The quilt that makes me say bad words

Chandelier.....i love this one.....

If you look at my style i am a scrappy gal. The more fabrics in there the better. Lol kinda like soup.

My quilts are not quilted yet, working on that and i am not a great photographer but i think you can see how my mind works. I try to do challenges here and there like the last one that Julierose challenged me with. I tried to be controlled scrappy using all blues.

I absolutely LOVE my chandelier blocks and they started as controlled scrappy, then what if, then oh heck its going in there  to oh man I am lovin this. Ha ha funny how that happens

My Pat Sloan traffic jam quilt also was a scrappy project that came together fast then stalled.  I cant decide on sashing fabric. I think it will be a light gray or something and get er done with multicolor cornerstones.

Most of the others were using up my 2.5 squares to see how many different quilts i could make. My blue star is not on here but a good example of that. I need a year of just quilting up my flimsys.

What quilts would be in YOUR quilt show. Dont worry. Its not a juried show. Just quilters sharing what they love no matter where you are on the journey. Beginner or master. We still can all inspire each other.

Regrouping

gotta regroup since the plan I had needs supplies.
These tractors  and red trucks need to be made into placemats

They will go half to a gift and half to me i think

These bibs are the second set. I need to finish them up and send them off.  I need to see where i am. I  think i need about 5 more

The turkey came out cute.i ended up using the rust color

What i need to accomplish before end of the month is this.....
Finish baby bib set. Mail off first group.
Mail off pumpkin to my winner Julierose

Find cones for my tree

Work on small projects like placemats and get them done.

I am rescheduled for Oct 28 for this eye. Yeah.....during a possible Corona revisit....life is grand isnt it?

Cones

remember these?  Got the glass......got the glue

Can NOT for the life of me find a cone

Styrofoam ones are too flimsy.i need plastic or heavy cardboard......

Anyone have any 5 to 6 inch empty thread cones that are cone shaped?

Who knew that would be the hardest part to find for this craft.

Ughhhhhh

I ended up finding 3 bags of glass at one store and 4 at another.  Should be enough to do a couple if i can find cones

Any suggestions???

See ya Wednesday.  Dunkin will pull a winner out of a hat.

Good luck all......

Cramming it all in

Do you start to panic and cram it all in?

This year has been crazy. We dont know whats gonna happen this Fall with covid.  Some schools are on, some halfway.  I know i lost a lot of sewing time cleaning and being a little depressed. I felt like just burying underground and coming out when all was well. Kinda like a bear.only they come out thinner and we came out heavier lol

This niece loved her handmade gift
And sent me a picture of her and the snuggle buddies

I have sooooo many things I need to do

And so many I want to do.

I love this Christmas quilt.  Should i start another? Ughhhh

I have so many to complete

Are you torn what to work on?

I need to see what the nieces plan is.....we were supposed to make witches night out and the baby quilt with pockets for dolly.

Two ambitious projects.oh yeah plus put her wedding signature quilt together. That one will definitely have to go to a quilter to finish up.

Why do I bite off more than I can chew?

Do you? How do you prioritize what is next in the list? Do you make lists? Do you wing it?
