Found treasures

Found this tin with 4 patches made of 2 Inch  squares
Fun to play with

Decided to um clean up
And CYNTHIA  at quiltingismorefunthanhousework.blogspot.com was making one of these
I have lots of 1.5 strips
All pieces are cut at 1.5 x 3.5 to make the block

So I said hmmm let me clean up a few strips
Yes I really told myself that
Then I cut the pieces and 1.5 squares on the ends for my squares barrel

So far so good

Then I said I just want to see how one looks with my fabrics

Then one became 2
Then 3
Until these happened

I need a container to put them in as it will be a long term thing
They finish 3x5 in the quilt
But what a fun scrappy quilt I think

And who doesn't have 1.5 inch strips?

A 14 to 15 inch length gives the outer 4
I will pin in groups of 4 Then match with single centers

Then a day of play pedal to the metal and more blocks will be born
Sweet....

A metal tin full of 4 patches

Just need to sew this on

Today I would have been married 39 years

April is a tough month now

My birthday, Easter and anniversary without my Richard

But I know he is watching over me and Dunks

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABE

You are always on my mind

Love you. Miss you

Under the weather

I came home Tuesday from work not feeling well
As I snuggled on the couch this guy joined me

Touching his mama's leg to make sure I don't move
He is so funny

I couldn't get him to make me Rea though
Had to fend for myself

But he was content that I was home Tues afternoon and all day 💒

I feel better now. Was nauseous and felt weak

But thankfully it went away as fast as it arrived

Grateful for crockpot dinners
I didn't eat but made a roast in crockpot so dinner today is heat n serve

Love that
Now Maybe I can get something done?

Never shop hungry

Never go shopping before a meal
This is what happens
I start out trying to be healthy
Love these crackers of butternut

Then go sweet with high energy coconut. Banana chips mix

Then all you know what breaks loose
I mean who doesn't love toffee popcorn
Ughhhhhh

So then I meandered to another section of the store
Still food but I gotta grow it
Lol
Always wanted to grow garlic
I use it in everything but my morning oatmeal
Ha ha

And onions will be nice
As they mature I will dry some and braid to keep and chop some and freeze for easy prep

And would ya lookue here
How pretty us this hat yarn

And at this price I got 2 colors
1.50.   It's in my budget
Love it

These guys will hopefully grow in my side garden
Or maybe one in front
I got 2 of them

Look how pretty

If I add a little each year eventually I can have a pretty garden
These were 5 bucks

Do you shop hungry?
I spent a lot
But got pots to plant veggies

Gonna try and put onion sets in windowbox planters
Hey last time I tried squash in containers and got a great crop

You never know
What's in your garden this year?

I have onions,garlic,microgreens,dill, kale
Peppers. Tomatoes
And will get basil.  Thyme. Maybe oregano
Rosemary

All fun to grow and dry

Ufo almost done

A while back julierose enabled me to take 5 inch charms and make this squirrel

As with all distractions I had good intentions of a couch quilt

Right before Jacky passed she gifted me with 3 of those fleece thin blankets

One was pink. One yellow and one blue

The pink went on a girl baby quilt
I didn't use batting just the fleece
I liked the drape of it
So I measured this against the blue and it fit

So I quilted just a few lines to hold it together

I can't wait to
Bind it and put it on my couch
She looks kinda purty there right?

Ignore the blankety mess in front
DUNKIN and I snuggle these chilly nights there
And he didn't pick up his mess
Lol

Pumpkin spice

This pumpkin was a playtime slab day
The squares were too

I think they look good together

And these 2 inch squares became  pumpkins too
With a little help from corner squares in 2 and 2.5 inch

Just need some stems now

Then will decide what they will become

A pumpkin quilt?

Fall placemats?

Potholders?

Runner for table?

I think I have an acorn or two hanging around

Maybe if I make some leaves?

Any ideas for me?
What would YOU  make

Outside work

Yesterday bear brother was over and cut down a tree for me

We weeded a little in my garden
And I found a tulip

I knew I had some but they were buried
In the daffodils

2 pretty red ones and a yellow one that's not out yet

He brought me tomatoes peppers and some onions

The onions will go out today hopefully
The others maybe next
 week

Then I ironed my woven blocks
There was a hefty stack

How's your weekend going?

Two trees

This is the tree I settled on
A FALL tree
Improv style
Cut to a 7 inch square that will finish 6.5

I like it

Dunkins tree
Is also improv and 7 inches

Step one of the trees are done

On to the next step

I made these really easy in just a couple minutes to show they don't have to be difficult

Have fun if you are joining along
That's the point of quilting

Do you have a tree?

Tree step two

Step one was make a tree

Embroidered or pieced or appliqued.....

Whatever pleases you

Make the tree.........

Step TWO......BORDER IT

Maybe you make a snowglobe around it

Easy enough to do.  Round edges made with sew and flip corners

Base of brown for wood.......

Or border it with a simple frame of fabric

Or mini blocks like bearpaw.......bears in woods

Simple strings are good too

It's your quilt so go for it. Leave yourself enough fabric to be able to trim or add to for size each round

Squirrel alert

This crumb piece I used the wrong side of this fabric
I liked it better in the block
Hey I paid for both sides didn't I?

See
It's bright here on the back

These squirrel pillows are on my list
I am thinking fall pillows for my couch
Squirrels and acorns maybe?
Love them
I think the site is called Tilda or something like that and the pattern is free
She has gorgeous stuff

See these batting strips?
They won't go to waste

I grabbed tgem and my selvage bag and started to sew

I just joined as I sewed the strips

The start of my selvage potholders
More easy no thinking kinda sewing

I guess my brain needs a rest from things for a bit

My tree block needs to be done
I need to finish putting farm quilt together
I need to see how far woven has come
Binding on placemats
Placemat for Dunks
I am quilting my blue snowball couch quilt

Yeah
My
Brain
Needs
A
Rest
I
Guess

But it's all good
Sewing makes me 😊

Crumb piecing

As I go along and have scraps I tend to do mindless crumb piecing

I grab a piece no matter the size and sew it to another
I may join a small ufo block in there too
I may sew at an angle for interest
I make fabric a big enough size to iron them and cut the same
For these I think I used my 10 inch square
Hmmmm a good size for potholders you say???
Yep
So far I have 8 made
It may become potholders
It may become a quilt

Not sure but I love the freedom of sewing this way

All fabrics go
Christmas with summer pastels
Batik
Homespun
All fun to play with
Are you playing in your sewing room?
