Saw this fabric online.
Love it for the back of my red truck when i make mine

I also eyeballed this panel
So mant many decisions

I love this heart design and always wanted a quilt in blues in this pattern storm at sea.
Hmmmm
May be a 2020 project

Is anyone else eyeballing 2020 projects?
Lol
I should finish 2019 ones first  right?

Fabulous free friday

I had a wonderful thanksgiving
And a great surprise. I will get to that in a bit

We had a great dinner and did i get to sew?
Um NO.because I um needed to get my tree up and see where I stand

Dunkin was so funny  chillin and looking at it with me

He even discussed that next year we should get a tree topper

I think she looks purty
And my brothers baskets came out HUGE

Deer one

Bear one
Each one with cookies and goodies for the cabin. Li
I ended up splitting up the fox mugrugs and gave each one 2
I
Love
Them

And my stocking is ready for Santa to fill

Our surprise was my son let us know our other grandson was here from London.
My son had his first son Jordan with a gal from London. They didnt stay a couple but I kept in touch over the years and sent him birthday and Christmas gifts. The shipping many times was more money than the gift

Fast forward to now. We last saw Jordan when he was 5 months old. He is 20 and will be 21 Apr 1st. He decided to come see his Dad and us so is staying with my son and the boys. They are over the moon with their big brother and have been playing basketball and hockey etc

I get to see him tomorrow after the hockey tournament. We are soooo excited. He is a handsome young man and looks just like my son did at that age.

So my fabulous free Friday gift to you all is remember that kindness can pay off.  Even many years later. Their breakup was not amicable but I  insisted on knowing how my grandson was thru the years.
Even though he doesnt "know me" i hope he knows my heart

I am
Thankful for all my sweet quilting sisters

Friends, family, beloved pets, beauty around me, and quilting as a hobby has brought more to be thankful for

These are nowhere in sight

Somewhere in this messy room I had some of these cut out.
But where?
Did i recut the pieces down?
Are they partially sewn?
Who knows

This thurs i am hoping to get this up and gifts under. Then i will know more of where I am with things

Dunkin is trying to tempt me
With a squirrel project

Um nope. No can do

Rainy days and Mondays

What do you do on a rainy day close to Christmas
Some smart people sew
Ummmm
Not me......i went shopping yesterday

That in itself isnt bad
BUT I SPENT MONEY ON ME
NOT GETTING GIFTS ugh
I loved this sherpa fleece comforter for my bed in the lumberjack plaid

Got some berries for my wreath

Ok so maybe my brother can fight me for the deer towel?

Be still my heart.....a shower curtain
And FIVE BUCKS
I was in heaven

I did buy some gifts too. I cant show them
Because i didnt take pictures

But i had fun with non fabric retail therapy
Whoda thunk I could enjoy that as much as fabric shopping ?

I have just a few things to wrap up Christmas now which is good.

I love my scraps

This is kinda the pineapple idea for my gift

Along with this
I think the recipient will like it.

I know I would

Cleaned up an area and wanted a little mindless sewing

Found a long cutoff strip of batting
And around the same size piece of fabric from the quilt show bag

Put them together
And grabbed my strip pile container and stitched and flipped to make a long piece.
I then trimmed the sides even and it said to me it wanted to be a bag......

And 3 mugrugs
Not bad for stuff some would throw away

Unfortunately the string container doesnt show a dent.......just made a little breathing room for the overflowing strips

As I was sewing nilly willy on this I thought of all the cool things I could make

Zip bags of all sizes
Mugrugs
Join a few qayg style for placemats
Or runners
Even a cute tote bag
Potholders
Pillow

A fast way to use up scraps.
I used scraps of fabric cutoffs and strings
I even used partial pieced section
Batting cutoffs
Binding scraps

Scraps make me happy

I think i will gather all my mugrugs and put them in a basket in the mailroom for people to take as a merry Christmas from me

A good way to play in my stash
And put a smile on someone

If you remember my last play day i pieced squares and made 3 mugrugs too
I know i made a ton throughout the year.
Hoping for at least 20 or so

Sat and goals

I put buttons on 6 of these stove towels
Now to do something different and pick mine FIRST lol

Made another one of these in reds and greens

Why? Because i can

Quilted up bosses pineapple runner

That now just needs binding

Tbinking i need another good binding day

Have placemat set to bind and runner

Time is a ticking......
The STRESS. Lol
Wish I could rent a sewing elf......
Maybe I will start a sewing elf business

Hmmm....anyone else need an elf to help with things??? Lol

Fabulous free Friday

Did anyone make a cup last week?

If so, did it become a mugrug?
A potholder?
Something else?

This week i will show you how making little things through the year can end up a great gift

I kind of start out with odds and ends
A knitted dish cloth
An applique towel
Magnets, shopping list pad
A potholder
A basket, cookie mix, spatulas and before long i have a great theme basket.

I build on a theme whether it is Santa
Or kitchen
Or some of the recipients favorite things

Add goodies like milano cookies or ferraro rocher candy etc.

Decorate with ornaments for the tree or a holiday green floral pick

Each year i think i wont have enough deer or bear ideas and another one comes along

For example  bear eat salmon. There is a card game called happy salmon i got.
My brothers will have fun in the hunting cabin playing it when its too dark to be in the woods

See? Perfect. .......if you look at things differently you can make a perfect basket gift  and by making or gathering items along the way the pocketbook isnt hit all at once.

Red truck lover?  Great panels out there to use

Or make a wteath and find ornaments in red truck to decorate
Easy peasy and so pretty

Take a fav picture and have a gift made

This one made my Dad cry last year and he is not usually emotional

This was the funny element I came across when shopping. It was a silly 5 dollar item that made the hunting brothers laugh

These were fun fish potholders
With batiks all kinds of fun to make

Red truck pillow cover

See? Just build on a theme, make it fun and geared to the recipient

My boss liked the pineapple runner i made so making her one.
She also likes ferraro rocher
I have seen where they glue the candy to make a pineapple. I think it is a bottle of wine as the base

So a bottle of wine, candy and table topper.
Wrapped with maybe some dried pineapple snack etc will be an affordable gift for me to give and a gift she will like.
No breaking the bank

The presentation will make the gift

Anyone know where i can find a pineapple tin for the dried fruit? Lol

Your free lesson in making great gift baskets

And dont overlook places like the dollar store for your basket or container. A sleek black one dollar plastic container can be more elegant and useful than a 10 dollar basket

Remember......
Theme
Fun
Recipients likes
Presentation

My maintenance man in the park gets a coffeeshop giftcard
Some fav pepperridge farms cookies
Some k cups or flavored coffees
Candied nuts etc
He loves it

For one niece this year i am trying to see if i can form her gifts into a red teuck
She loves ribbon candy, an old fashioned treat. That can be the truck bed wrapped in Kraft paper

The tailgatw can be her giftcard in a giftcard box also wrapped in Kraft.
The wheels can be round tins of candy or mints wrapped in black paper
The cab i will play with wrapped in red solid paper
Her real gift is the giftcard but the presentation says she is special to me

I will look for candy or cakes packaged in the shapes i need. Hmmm that lifesaver book size may be perfect for the truckbed.
Debbie tree cakes in the bed of the truck with a couple bottle brush trees will let her know it is the red truck.
Cute and fun

Have fun and make some cool gifts!
I guarantee your recipient will remember it long after

The book of life

It was rainy and cold and just a nasty day
When i got home from work and sat down folding a load of laundry, this guy did this
Snuggled next to me wanting to keep warm.
Lol. You would think the thermostat was set for 40 below or something

But I love my snugglebug......

Then hubs says "I got you a surprise"
Now mind you he is not the flowers just because type so he scares me when he says that. My first thought is ok, is the car ok? Did you break something? Etc. Ha ha
You know after 36 years and all I think I know him pretty good.

Anyone remember or still get these?
I loved the books with the variety.
One all flavor, one butterrum, one cherry etc.

This one is all the same
Multiflavor

But i love it.
He was reminded of a blast from the past and wanted to share it with me.

I guess i will keep him. Hee hee
Last year he did the 12 days of Christmas with a surprise each day.
I think i may be rubbing off on him.
Just sayin......

Wacky wednesday

This little sewing fun became 3 mugrugs

I paired it with leftover batting and 2.5 strips and even leftover binding.
Voila.....3 cute mugrugs. Just because

Did a little retail therapy
I always put a little fun in my brothers baskets
Remember the deer blowup antler game?
This guy sings hit me with your best shot
They will love it

Doxie dogs for Alicia
Who knew these existed???

Brothers favorite miss debby treat

For the bear basket......
Perfect!

More fun. Crackers with fun prizes

A top i would like to get done

Fun prints

See how cute?

A green top to finish

And one made of ten inch squares too

Boy will i be busy!
