I finished the pillow and love it

Dunkin is checking my seams.....you know a catscan for quality inspection 

It looks great

Even with my crooked quilting lol

                         The back looks good too.  I should have ironed it though for ya

I like the look of it

Easier to see from the back

I will add a lining to this and then the 2overlapping back pieces for a cute 16 inch pillow for my blue couch

Experiment success

Remember the 1.5 squares i played with?

Made little 9patches to play with later

I had envisioned borders around them

Or using as the center of a block

Well..........

When your mind is bored......or empty.......the best ideas show up

I joined some blocks and found a piece of a 2.5 strip laying around

Found a lining fab and a zipper

Boxed the bottom corners

And made a cute bag

I love it

Its quilted around each square

I did strips both ways

And i am pleased with the bag

Its so cute

And so handy

And ANOTHER FINISH

And then there were two

Out of the scrap I found,  I made TWO  zippy bags

When I found the first blue strip and was digging for the lining fabric I found the other piece.it was too small for the lining but with the addition of the green it was big enough for another bag

This wild fat quarter was in my stash so I used it for this lining

At least a little finish for April

MAYBE....JUST MAYBE I can finish the blue pillow and table topper

Bag ..... a finish .....yay

As i find myself looking for backings and fabrics to finish things, i spied the cute blue floral strip 

And a green piece and a just big enough aqua piece for a lining

Pulled a purple zipper and in about 20 minutes i had a cute bag

I love it. So much that i made one the opposite way too. Strip of green at top and rest blue floral

April so far has 3 pillows,one mugrug, and a couple zippy bags

Better than no finishes though.

Its gonna be May soon. YIKES

Whats going on in your sewing room?

 

Yellow and purple

My phlox are so huge this year

They must have had perfect conditions

My daffodils are prolific too

I will need to thin them and move them around a bit

But i am enjoying the pretty color

The month of April i was supposed to be running.

Hubs needs more help

And i dont sleep well making me fall asleep during the day

This was one of those what if moments with my 1.5 squares

I thought it was 5 inches but it is 6

Do i border it and make a mugrug?

Make it bigger and make a zip bag?

 Found this again. I need to layer it up

Quilt it

Find a suitable back and make a pillow 

It was already 2 projects in my mind.it started as a  sampler quilt. That project got taken apart in 2016 and i made table toppers for game gifts. This was still left over.

Now i see a blue pillow for my blue couch.

Need to finish it before it becomes undershorts or something funky just to use it up........

I know.that would be horrible right?

An ohio star on my butt. YIKES. Not that my butt is the size of Ohio or anything.

HEY I HEARD THAT!!!!!!!  Lol 

If i look hard enough at the stash maybe i can get another finish this month.

Geese are back

I made a green geese migration block

So added red, blue and green to the mix

Some FINISHES....YAY

While checking out backing and border fabrics, i grabbed these and decided to get some finishes in for April

I slacked a little in March so need to play catch up

Love how this cute owl came out 

And since i was already measuring and cutting i decided to do all 3

The floral is cute too

So technically THREE FINISHES for April

Three pillows 

Now for that blue table topper..........

Or blue and white snowball quilt

Scrappy cleanup

found scraps sewn that were big enough for mugrugs

Grabbed small pieces for backs

Quilted them up 

Now they are waiting for binding

 And i will have 4 little mugrugs for a pile to put in the mailroom 

They love em here

Its a win win

I use up scraps and practice quilting and binding

Whoever grabs them in the mailroom gets a quick little gift to cheer them

Who doesnt like gifts? Or using up scraps?

Nothing fancy just a useful little object

Almost 4 little finishes 

I need to look online. I am needing a zip pouch with 2 or more compartments easy to sew...hint not the together bag....

So it can hold phone on one side. Mask in other side. Maybe 3 pockets? One for keys license and credit card?  I may need to draft something up. Thinking it would be a useful kinda thing .hubs keeps losing his phone.if this could attach to his belt.....

Anyone see anything online that fits the bill?

More progress

I picked this border

To me it pulled all the colors in the squares

Number one the blue was too bright

Number 2 was pretty but my squares were off so i needed a distraction instead of a pretty frame

So i chose number 3

Now to find a back and quilt er up

See a pattern here? Yeah. Find a back fabric

I have come to the concluaion that i need to buy a bolt of a neutral kinda fabric for backs 

What???? An excuse to buy fabric you say???

Anywho.....

This is just one little project you can make out of 2.5 squares

I like sewing them pedal to the metal in twosies

Then making something

Like this 

Or like Dunkins quilt by bordering each 4 patch

Or using a 4 patch to start a log 

Cabin

Or combining with hst 

The possibilities are endless

And the playing is fun

So many say why do you cut your fabrics into the squares?

I say so i will use them

But what if you dont need that size for your project?

I am cutting fat quarter size and less.not yardage

The scrap bins are to help me stay a little organized 

And when cut already i am ready to play

I pick the bin thats the fullest and play in there

I have 3 inch, 2.5, 2, 1.5 

1.5 is the smallest i go

I have gone 5 and 10 but found i mostly am cutting them smaller

How do you tame your scraps?

2 more of the woven blocks

And the light one is blue not white

See? Depends on the light shining  on it

And did another of the geese gradations
