FABULOUS FREE FRIDAY

Have you ever received a squishy package?
Maybe you ordered it and it FINALLY arrived.

Or maybe a friend helped with your stash to finish a project

Maybe someone just made a little something to cheer you up and sent it along

Isnt it FUN to receive those treats?

Well today I have a treat for  ALL of you.

Yep, a round for everyone
On
Me
Lol

No thats not the treat.....a virtual drink
Although sometimes....
I worry my seams will be more wobbly and crooked....
i can see the fabric police now.......scuze me ma'am  step away from the machine and get your pattern and seam ripper out for me.......i want you to walk a straight line........lol

Nope thats not the treat.

TODAY WE WILL LEARN A NEAT TECHNIQUE

yep, not my original but a neat quick way to do a charity quilt or whatever.

ARE YOU READY?

good. Grab a 10 inch square and a 5 inch square
They should coordinate  because we will make a modern square in a square

No
Cutting
Involved

So if that rotary cutter is not your friend lately,  you are in luck.

Step 1....lay the 10 inch square right side up

Step 2...lay the 5 inch square in the center of the 10 inch square also right side up
(I know. Right here you are calling the police to tell them I have been drinking. Put down the phone....and give me a chance)

Step 3... fold one edge of the 10 inch square over the 5 inch to encase it like this.

Then sew a quarter inch seam top to bottom.
What?  You will end up with a neat back of the block and an encased seam.
Do the same for opposite side.

See now 2 sides are sewn and 2 are not

Wash rinse repeat for the other two sides

Now you have a block in a block  from the front done in seconds....no cutting

And finished nicely in the back

You're welcome.
Now heres the fun.....
Use up those fabric cakes and charms
Mix and match them
Trade them.
Whatever as they are addictive.

Ideas.....Christmas one with prints and solids

Floral one with white

Take a print fabric and cut 5 inch squares
Pair with solids pulling colors from the print

See? So versatile and fun.
Jackie has a baby quilt almost done and has about ten more planned!
WARNING...........
THEY
ARE
ADDICTIVE.

there is a tutorial online. They are called 5 10 blocks.  This is one of them.
Check out this youtube for more fun.

Google sue knapp quick 5 and 10 blocks

She has other blocks too
Like an old fashioned butterfly block

You're welcome. I knew you would all like it.
Hate to cut? Grab precuts
Have yardage you need to use?
Cut into squares and make these.
Need a fast baby quilt or lap or charity quilt?
We got cha covered.
Now go sew!
Before I  call the police. Hee hee
