Springtime maybe

Did a little work on this runner

It came out of playing with flowers and making a robin and butterfly on a wing and prayer lol

But I think I like it

Cheerful colors and whimsical for my table

Maybe one of these for a border

We will see once I get thd middle section done

Not sure if I want another butterfly or keep it simple with one 

But a little progress none the  less

No finishes in March

But I did March forward on a lot of projects which is good

A good farmgirl block for next one

My mom drove schoolbus and had a percolating pot of coffee on 

She loved her coffee

Hurricane lamp we thought was cool at Grams house

She used it when power went out

We felt like we were camping or having a fun adventure

Oh my I was looking for a turtle block

We found one as kids but not knowing what they needed and keeping it in a box instead of water it died

We had a funeral for it and buried it near the telephone pole where we knew the location

Bouquets of wild aster and dandelions were carefully placed on top

Need to make in blues for my couch

They came from this beautiful package from an angel

I was feeling particularly low coming home from 2nd breast ultrasound

My hubs just died of cancer and my mom had died of breast cancer so it has been stressful to say the least

I pray to God to just hold my hand to deal with whatever comes my way

And when I got the mail on the way home a cheerful package was in My box

Two neat books with patterns for me to use

Wall stickers of faith

Garden labels

All so thoughtfully chosen for me

Not perfect

The brown body is too long but that's ok

Thinking of making him on m point for the center area of the runner so he looks like he is flitting

As I wait to work on the farm quilt I grabbed more squares

Purple and an apricot one

Easter colors

I swear I will never run out of 1.5 squares lol

 

Squirrels and nuts

Needed a break for some easy sewing

Found these panels with back and batting cut

Look how beautiful these are

So fall with gold running thru the fabrics

Leaves so pretty

So I quilted them up

Just my usual forgiving wavy quilting

But I love them

Love crisp fall days

And placemats to protect the table

Aren't panels fun????

Frugal fridays

 

 

     

This Friday was another good haul

All this for 8 bucks

Ice tea, 12 lemons, 2 tomatoes,3 potatoes,,broccoli, Peas, salad mix,blueberries and bananas

No groceries again for me

Lovin it

How do you save on the food budget

Now layout of farm

I started with this

Finished all blocks and put like this

Moved the pumpkin to spread orange color

And put crow near bunny instead of pie

Moved strawberry  to spread red

I think this is the hardest part

Any suggestions?

I want to get sashing on and get a flimsy soon

This may  be the next block I do

Yeah the kitchen window was broken by the baseball that Dad hit 

The one he warned us all about

Peter peter pumpkin eater

 

Here is my pumpkin

On the farm how do you keep 5 kids from fighting at harvest arguing that the largest pumpkin is theirs?????

Well when the pumpkins are small on the vine

You give each child a nail

To carve their initials or name on the pumpkin

It will scar over and there will be no question whose pumpkin it is

Then once harvested the pumpkin cake and pumpkin pie recipes come out and the seeds get toasted too

I found this butterfly pattern

It fits farmgirl more than my flower runner but that's ok

We used to take badminton rackets and trap butterfly and put in jars with holes in the cover

and hoping hyacinth but not sure

These are popping up too

And the amaryllis that quot blooming and I quit watering decided it Wants to showoff I guess

So looks like it is growing again in the house

I almost wet my plants seeing all this green

And with all the pieces for farmgirl being cut I have tons of 1.5 squares to play with

So this ufo moved along one block more as well

Love having pieces cut

Streamlines my sewing for sure

My grocery haul

I spent 5 bucks and got all this

Potatoes. Carrots. Peas. Summer squash. Tomatoes

Every Fri between 3 and 5 a truck pulls up to the ymca

And thru mass in motion to promote healthy eating and moving they offer this at a huge discount

A bag of 5 oranges 1 dollar 

Bag of green grapes 1 buck

I even got Thomas's raisin bagels. 2 pkg for I think 3

She only charged me 5 total which I said didn't seem right but she said yes

I am allset for the week

Every week is different

Can't wait till Friday!

Good thing those parts were available

I love it

It needs ironing really bad but it's a nice 12 inch block

I started to cut out the tractor block

I still need parts lol

 

Trouble on the farm

Does this look like an upside down plant?

I thought the top fabric looked enough like roots but I don't like it

Even turned right side up it doesn't look right

Then I found this fabric

I may need to go back to the drawing board and remake this one

My Dad had bought a fancy pepper planter attachment to the tractor 

It was a 2 seater with baskets

You sat at the back of the tractor. Facing away from the tractor with the basket area in front of you filled with plants

Between the seats is a wheel

It grabs the plant as you place it the wheel goes around and it plants it

Simple right????

Um nope

Dad told brother and I how to put the plants in the wheel.

As we got down the row we saw roots sticking out of the 

ground instead of plants

They were upside down

We yelled to Dad to stop the tractor

He hadn't realized the wheel I guess goes the opposite way

Another day in the life on the farm

I think it finishes 30x30

Spring robin playing

I was playing in my scraps and made a Robin

I think it may look good somewhere on the farm

The one with printed backgrounds

I will add borders to bring it up to size and trim

Thus was my thought process

I had sections in my brain

And I think for winging it he came out pretty cute

Once it's to size I need maybe a Robin blue egg could be appliqued on too
