Finally a finish lol

A finished bag

All i seem to finish these days but I will take it 

Made out of my 1.5 stash

You know the stuff "normal people" throw out lol

My Jacky used to get so mad

She would be humming out scrap pieces to clean up after a project and i would put in my pockets and take home

She goes what are you gonna do with that tiny piece 

I would go home, make something and bring it to her.

She called me crazy. Lol

Look who is hiding in my bag to anchor it down

Am I lucky

Was cleaning up  weeds in the front garden when i found this

A FIVE LEAF CLOVER

does that mean extra luck???

Later when i put the trash out i found three FOUR LEAF CLOVERS

Hoping it is a sign of things getting better

Have you ever found one?

They are all being pressed and then will be sandwiched between waxed paper to keep

As a kid i used to find them at my house

I had given one to my moms uncle Bill at a family reunion

They said it was in his wallet after he passed away

Hope it was lucky for him!

 

Fun finds when shopping

The other day when I was shopping for some thick garden gloves i came across these fun items

Anyone else as a child remember candy cigarettes?

I didnt think they still made them

These were .50 a pack

Dont the smokers wish that were the price?

And those LARGE paper buttons

See? My hand for reference

How many thought they were cool puffing on a fake cigarette 

We imitated people we knew that smoked

Never dreaming how bad for you it really is

Would you believe doctors used to tell people to smoke?

Busy on the farm

These are the blueberries we were picking when Jody got stung

Ugh

Another block down

 

Odds and ends

These little 1.5 squares will become a cute zip bag

With all the squares in my container i am thinking maybe I should make a set

Zipbag of 1.5

Maybe larger one of 2 inch squares 

And tote of 2.5

We will see 

Some fabric for the lining 

Another start for hopefully a Christmas gift

One of those ponytail hats

A niece wanted a black one so hopefully it comes out ok

The ribbing is knitted so now just need 6 inches of stockinette stitch next

An easy pick up and do a few rows kinda thing

Unfortunately I cant wear at work

Lol

Even though i am fully vaccinated i am leary

Because they don't check there are people who wont wear masks even if not completely vaccinated and with the surge in new cases of the variant i am not taking chances with hubs compromised lungs 

They are not sure if we need boosters or not so i err on the side of caution

Very hot in july though

5 more woven blocks

These finish at 5inches so lots are needed to make a quilt

For a lap size of 50 x 60 would mean 10 across by 12 down or 120 blocks

I know i have a lot but no way i have that many yet

Maybe 40 or so?

So i will keep making them for a bit

Gnome fun

I went shopping 

Without my buddy

But i found a gnome so cute to put on her grave

Its resin except for fabric legs 

So i think it will be ok

She has a quilt block on one corner

And thread on the other

How cute is that

So many projects not enough time

Dishcloths need to be made

Planning days on the farm

This is Lori Holts quilt

She uses 48 six inch blocks for this

I have i think 30 or 32 made so far

This is a must helping Gram make apple pie because company was coming

Or the kitty we had that the milkmans truck hit because he didnt see him

Watermelon to enjoy and watetmelon rind pickles later with the rinds

Nothing wasted on the farm

DAD had a farmall and an Alice Chalmer tractor.i dont remember a john deere but the colors can be changed

Our countrymusic roots

Singing to Dolly Partons coat ofmany colors into our hairbrush microphone

Crocheting with Gram under the hickory nut tree

Dads truck full of veggies headed to Chelsea market to go to local grocery stores

Picking strawberries at Aunty Arlenes and making strawberry rhubarb jam

Jody wants someone to please swat this darned bee lol

Wearing Grams aprons a must to keep flour off my clothes

So many more i need to do

Sis in law thinks the nieces will fight over

This quilt

My stepkids have no memories of the farm

But the nieces do because of Grampy

I may need to make 5 lap quilts but combine some 12 and 6 inch blocks to make each one

We will see

For now i will trod along making blocks and find some journals to record the stories

 

More for the giftbox

I am making more stove towels for the giftbox

There are some cute towels you can get out there

On sale, off season etc 

All helpful to make gifts

A friends birthday? No problem

Bake them a cake, give them your killer brownierecipe, a stove towel, maybe a knitted dishcloth 

See? In the bag. Or i should say giftbox

Or just to say thank you

It was a favorite of hers

I came across it and need to make it

Farmgirl

Beehive block for the farm quilt

We were picking wild blueberries as a family and my younger brother who was maybe 5 got stung by tons of bees

He must have disturbed a nest as in 2 minutes his eyes were slits

My Dad grabbed him in his arms and ran to the car to get him to the hospital asap

We were thankful he was ok and they sent him home with an epi pen for future stings

Poor kid

Not a good story on the farm but a memory non the less

I need to make the cherry block into blueberries too.

Did you make a farmgirl quilt?

I am loving the stories behind my blocks and will see where it will take this quilt

So fun .i need to get a journal for it too

 

Crumb blocks

Remember my crumb blocks?

While straightening up i found a white jellyroll so i bordered each block

Then sewed together

 I am thinking that a crumb border may work to finish this up

There is everything in here from Christmas to fabric from the 90s

A fun lap quilt size. 

I love my scraps........

Three more wovenblocks

I tell ya folks if they are cut out already they go together fast

I do them as leader enders and sometimes as i am bored but have to sew

Soon i will put them together to see how large it is

I avoid the design floor as i feel as though i have fallen and cant get up lol

Need another design wall system for sure 

I feel as though i am making a ton of the maroon and not many colors though

I may have to bite the bullet and lay them out 

Will you help me up???

 

Remember my 4 patch play

My play day with 4 patches led me to this

I spied an unused jelly roll

And I paired them up 

So many fun colors and combinations 

I really liked putting them together 

Even if the colors were wild

Thats scrappy and I like it 

Even a Christmas patch in there

Holstein cow print

Some i matched kinda

Others had no rhyme nor reason 

I think i will like this once i figureout if on white or gray background 

But for now i will admire them

I love each one

And a pretty quilt they will make
