Blow the bugle strike the drum
Ring the bell let your marching down the street
Of your hearts devotion tell
At each fallen heros grave let a flag of freedom wave
Flowers on his tombstone strewn
As a sign of love from you
Better still within your heart
Set a sacred time apart
To the cause for which they died
Let us ever true abide
Blow the bugle strike the drum
Ring the bell......
From memory 50 years ago
Let us remember what Memorial Day really means
Not a day off
Not grilling outside
Not the beginning of wearing white
Not the first day to plant
It is a rememberance of those who died fighting for the freedoms we all enjoy and some abuse
Hug a veteran today
Buy him coffee
Put a flag up and remember those who gave the ultimate price...their life
Say a prayer for them
Happy Memorial Day
Wonderful sentiment, Dawn--and so true...
ReplyDeletewe pause to remember all that they gave for our Country and us...hugs julierose
I have never heard that before. Thanks for sharing. My great grandfather on my mom's side served in WW1, even though technically we were not considered US citizens because we were Native American. My mom's father we discovered a few years ago, died during WWII parachuting onto some island in the south pacific.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post for Memorial Day.
