A surprise in the mail

I got a nice surprise in the mail

And a new temptation

These are so wild and fun

 

This is almost done i think. After i add wide borders it will be a good size i think.

I have 2 more blocks in the works 

Then trim and sew them up

The borders will take longer with applique but thinking eleanor burns style applique may be the ticket.

They are wild looking with that old fabric stash. Mauves. Do they even make that color any more?

This is blue border number one.....a busy blue floral

A teal print 

 Or number 3.....a floral with some green that is in the squares

Which would you choose for bordering a table topper?

I think i know how i will go but what do you think?

An enabler friend who shall remain anonymous......after all she knows lawyers and all that stuff

She planted a bug in my ear

About squares 

She knows i love to play with them 

Soooooooooo

I had a few sewn in blues 

Finished the rest to make 9 4patch blocks of 2.5 squares

Added sash cut at 2 inches

And voila

A table topper is born

Need to find a busy blue fabric for border

And a backing and binding

Then get er quilted up

This is now about 25x25 as each square is 1 inch 

 

Someone got me a surprise because it was my birthday

A little progress but no finishes for end of March or April 

I better get cracking. Time is a flying and it will soon be garden time to take away from some sewing time.

Brother has seeded plants and has my name on a few

I still need lots of colors

Its about halfway done somewhere but i found this block ready to sew

Love the way these look

I need to find the rest so i know what colors i need

I would love this on my bed with gray on edges

I have a queen bed so will have to go to someone to quilt

I think i have a blue block set up to assemble.

Not sure if i need lights or darks like yellows or browns

It is a fun play on gradations of color and comes out gorgeous even if you mess up

I just sewed 2.5 squares in 5 rows from lights to darks

Then made 5 geese using the corner flip method 

And the centers again light to dark

Really pops

Everyones quilts are different but beautiful

I can imagine one all in blacks white and gray

Or beiges and browns

So one more block moved along

Still no finishes.......

YAY

it helps to have the pieces cut and ready to go

I think i need more blues and greens in here

If i can make 4 or 5 of each block this will move along quickly

I am liking the woven look it creates

I have some of each type block

Print or solid corners 

Each block takes 12 or 13 of the solids

If i can grab some blues and cut 1.5 inch strips i will be ready to sew the next group
