Dealing with snow

I was afraid to look out the window sat morning 

Fri night the snow started here

By Sat morning around 5am we already had a good 5 inches

Ugh

The snow plows went by a few times but at 8am now it is white again

Out my window looks like they didn't even.plow

Yikes

Gonna get dressed and move some of it 

It's supposed to last all day till midnight tonight

Tomorrow will be back breaking for sure

We are supposed to get 18 to 24 inches

Holy money

If I didn't have to work Monday I would just sew

But that's not possible

Ufo plan

I came across this pattern I got from Missouri star

A large bag

Sorry for the head tilt

It's Roomy and fun

I don't want to start a new project so what's a gal to do

I also stumbled across these starts

No rhyme nor reason

Just blocks of patchwork

In geese........

Selvages.............

And just crumb blocks

Heck even the newest start of pat sloans block 

Who am I kidding to think I could even finish the block never mind the quilt

I will sew together these pieces into a large size

 Then quilt

Cut the lining. Pocket and straps

And hopefully use up more ufo that have no purpose

Do you have ufo starts that you need to clear out?

Maybe the color is off or not enough contrast

If you make big enough a small mat may be able to fit in there

Nature is amazing

This plant gave me a daily distraction

One day the budstem shot up

Then there was color 

And now so pretty

I got 2 flowers on my stem

A pretty red

So so fun

33 plus year old ufo

The hand quilting on this is done

I just did a little outlining in the center around the frame and girl

And x in each square in the border

Now to trim and bind 

I will add a label for my sis in law

She helped take care of my mom many years ago

Cold lazy but busy days

This big guy loves to snuggle and that's ok by me

He is such a 💘

We have been going thru family pictures and recipes and paperwork to still be done when someone passes

It's overwhelming at times

But can be rewarding too

I found this gem

I had the curl in the middle of my forehead 

When I was good I was very good but when I was bad I was horrid. As the saying goes  lol

Was I? Only my mom knows and she took that info to her grave many years ago. Ha ha

I don't have biological children

Found recipes like Congo bars that we used to make all the time

Reminisced about Aunt Dolores' cheesecakes and moms fudge and cream cheese brownies and Tia Jo's succotash

A fun mind trip down memory lane

I will need to make some of these for old times sake

Do you have good family recipes that you remember? I had an uncle who made the most delicious linguicia sandwiches

Portuguese sausage but we think he put wine or something in the saute  

Even his daughter doesn't know

So he took that recipe and memory to his grave

Shame.......I want to share anything I make for future generations to make and remember me

 

A little non quilt fun

Added a jelly strip to this to make Dunks a placemat

I change them out all the time

He is a messy eater lol

Figured he may like ducks

Then I found these and modpodged a calendar page

Once dry I will sand edges. Paint to blend and remodpodge for a cute farmhouse style sign

My nieces birthdays are one in Aug, one Sept, two Oct and one Nov so fall projects work

My new goals for 2022

1. Finish a ufo

2. Move a project along

3 work on non quilt project

In January I finished a dishcloth ufo

I moved the valentine charms outta the pile into zip bags

And am working on these boards

For Feb I am HOPING  to finish the hand quilted wall hanging, do more work on these boards and see what else I can move along
